DirecTV quietly updates iPad app, HR34 DVR

DirecTV has quietly updated both its iPad app and HR34 DVR with a variety of new features for Satellite-loving customers. The application will now resume from where you left off, comes with a much improved search function and best of all, a direct line into the company's support forums. Meanwhile, the HR34 swallowed a software package that included Pandora, a YouTube landing page and more readable closed captions amongst a raft of other nips and tucks. The former will be available through the app store, while the latter should have arrived on your box overnight, well before you start on that CSI marathon.

Fanhattan updates iOS app with WatchList feature, content from Cinemax, HBO and NBC

Fanhattan's often being praised for offering a one-stop hub where folks can keep track of all their cherised entertainment shows, which has led it to become a crowd favorite amongst iOS users. Well, today the application's expanding its TV guide services a little more, announcing it's now showing content from 10 new providers, including HBO, Cinemax, NBC and, better yet, The CW -- you know, because we just can't miss out on the latest Gossip Girl episodes. In addition to these channel inclusions, Fanhattan's also introduced a novel, Amazon-esque WatchList feature that pushes out alerts as soon as added shows (movies, too) are ready to be watched. If you've yet to give the handy application a try, you can do so now by grabbing it at no cost from Cupertino's well-known app mart.

Amazon updates Kindle app for Android with improved tablet support

It's not exactly the biggest of updates, but Android tablet users who do a lot of reading in the Kindle app will likely be pleased with what the latest version has to offer. The big addition is the ability to view two pages side-by-side in landscape mode (as seen above). Otherwise, you'll now find additional options for margin and spacing controls, along with a number of bug fixes (including one for a pesky problem that required you to re-register when returning to the app).

Pure updates Evoke Mio radio with six new colors, thinks you need a new shade for summer

Do you really think a black FM radio -- or even worse, one in an off-season shade of grape --- can get you through the summer? Radio maker Pure wants to correct your errant ways. The company is expanding its Evoke Mio radio line with six new "on-trend" color options. The radio is already available in black, teal, grape and cherry, and now Pure is adding pepper, mustard, paprika, sage, rose and seagrass shades. While the colors are new, the specs are the same as on the original model: there's digital and FM radio, space for 30 presets, an auxiliary input for a PMP and an auto-dimming OLED panel. The new Pure Evoke Mio collection will go on sale in June for £130 (it's unclear if the radios will head stateside as well).
