Toshiba's creation is expected to become available on October 26th (Windows 8's launch day) priced just north of $1,000.

Video: Mini shows Cooper Works GP goes for a smoke, cheats the wind

Mini wants you to know all about its latest, limited-to-2,000 John Cooper Works GP edition. After a stint at the 'Ring to set a time of 8:23, the two-seat-only Cooper has parked itself in the wind tunnel to demonstrate its various wind-cheating features like the engine shield and rear wing.

The narrator informs us that that JCW GP has six percent less drag, 30 percent less front axle lift and 90 percent less rear axle lift - we'll assume that's compared to a standard Mini Cooper, since he doesn't say, but those are healthy numbers no matter what. Video: DeLorean hovercraft shows up in McCovey Cove

What's better than any Back to the Future tribute DeLorean? This. Because hovercraft.

And thanks to the guys at Deadspin, we can present video of it frolicking in McCovey Cove outside last night's Giants/Rockies game. As Deadspin reports, the DeLorean hovercraft's build was Kickstarter-funded and previously covered by MAKE. The finished product, which you can watch in action below, is fantastic.

Video: Nissan shows off crowdsourced 370Z

How often do you leave a comment on a post, "It would be cool if that car had (insert Part X)." It's always fun to think "what if?" Well, Nissan has taken advantage of the creative minds of enthusiasts everywhere by crowdsourcing the build of a custom 370Z. Nothing was off limits for modification. The engine, wheels, tires, interior, and exterior were all subject to vote. Nissan even asked you what suspension to use.

The build is finally complete and Nissan is ready to show off the fruits of your choices. In stage one, Steven Lam and his team of fellow mechanics removed the front clip and hoses in order to pull the engine. Once out, the 3.7-liter six was fitted with a Greddy twin turbo kit that Lam estimates will push output over 500 horsepower. To complement the twin snails, fans chose a Greddy Ti-C catback system for more freely flowing exhaust.

Next up was the suspension, which was left to a vote by Autoblog readers (you're just gonna have to click on the first video below to see which one was selected), followed by a Stoptech big brake kit.

In stage two, the car was dyno'd, the fuel/air mix tweaked, and the aesthetics were addressed. Click on the second video to see their progress, and the final video for the eventual reveal of the crowd-customized 370Z.

Spy Shots: Aston Martin AM 310 Concept shows up in Italy... could it be the Vanquish? *UPDATE

Aston Martin recently took a right-hand drive version of the company's AM 310 Concept for a spin in Italy. The coupe was on hand for a brief photo shoot, and sported a few different details from the model we saw debut at Villa d'Este. Marked by a more sane set of wheels and a more demure grille, this machine looks almost ready for production. Aston Martin has already made it clear the concept could give us an idea of the successor to the DB9 and DBS, and some voices are indicating this could be the next-generation Vanquish.

Despite its ultra luxury products, Aston Martin may not have the resources on hand to dabble in fully-functional concepts like other automakers. As such, it would make sense for the AM 310 to serve double duty as both a concept and a prototype.

The supercar rides on the same VH chassis as nearly every other Aston Martin product, though the AM 310 borrows the 6.0-liter V12 found in the DB9.

*Update: After taking a closer look, it appears as if this car is actually wearing a Vanquish badge on the rear. As such, it would seem the AM 310 Concept will be built and sold as the next-generation Vanquish. Expect more information as it becomes available.

GIGABYTE Also Shows Off its First Socket FM2 Motherboards

The F2A85X-UP4 is loaded with top-tier VRM components, including high-current ferrite core chokes, IR3550 PowIRstage driver-MOSFETs, which make up an 8-phase CPU VRM. The FM2 socket is wired to four DDR3 memory slots, with support for dual-channel DDR3-2400 MHz by overclocking; and two PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots (x8/x8, when both are populated). Other expansion slots include three PCI-Express 2.0 x1, a PCI-Express 2.0 x16 (electrical x4), and a legacy PCI, all of which are wired to the A85 FCH.

TiVo shows a Q1 net loss of $20.8 million, will launch TV Everywhere web portal soon

TiVo has released its financial results for Q1 2013, and right off the bat they show a wider than expected net loss of $20.8 million. This is despite a rise in revenue and subscribers (driven mostly by Virgin Media, which added 242,000), and the company expects another loss in the second quarter due to rising litigation costs in its ongoing cases against Motorola and Time Warner Cable. We've already heard about TiVo's new Stream placeshifting box, IP multiroom extender and six-tuner XG1 gateway, but the new product news is a plan to launch TV Everywhere streaming. The first cable operator joining in the new venture will be RCN, and TiVo says its portal will allow providers using its DVRs to deliver streaming video in or out of the home, with video on-demand and remote DVR scheduling on PCs, tablets and mobile devices. Motorola shows off Ice Cream Sandwich on a Droid RAZR, sprinkles in Webtop 3.0

Although Motorola outed its Android Ice Cream Sandwich rollout plans back in February, we've only seen leaked glimpses of what its skinned version the OS would be like for its handsets. That's changed recently thanks to Motorola's Japanese website, where a new ICS landing page features nine demo videos showcasing the software on a Droid RAZR. Among the clips, which highlight features from updated icons to a revamped lockscreen, there's also a detailed look at the LapDock-friendly Webtop 3.0 UI. Sadly however, there isn't any new word on the rollout schedule past the update Moto detailed on the 18th. You can treat yourself to some of the eye candy by clicking past the break, and you'll find all the vids by hitting the source link below -- but do keep in mind that most of clips aren't voiced in English.
